ASHLYN MARIE HALE
18 Years | Awesome | Friendly

Ashlyn is, strangely, an almost perfect balance between short and tall, a bit more on the tall side. She is 5 feet 5 inches and weighs 120+ lbs. Her hair is a mix between brown and red, looking more like an orange. Her hair is usually soft and silky, never being shorter than 4 feet. It doesn't look as long because she wears her hair up in something that looks, somewhat, like pigtails. Ashlyn's lips are a pale pink color, although they are often glossy because she wears lip gloss. Her eyes are a pretty, yet intimidating teal grey.
Different fashion sense.
Ashlyn does not have the typical girl's fashion sense. She is more of a tomboy, although she wears girly things sometimes. She will wear any T-shirt, mostly the funny ones from the boys' clothes in stores. She loves any shirt that has something smart-alecky or funny written on it. The shirt has to be 1+ inches below her jean/skirt/short line and the sleeves can't be too short. Ashlyn wears jeans more than skirts and barely ever wears shorts. Her favorite shoes are sneakers and Nikey. She doesn't dress up too often but when she does she will choose anything blue.
Forget your makeup, we're going riding.
Ashlyn's riding outfit is very relaxing and comfortable. Her riding pants are jeans that are, usually, ripped at the bottom. She'll wear any shirt that she put on that morning. However, her riding boots are strikingly beautiful. A glossy black with royal blue lightning symbols that strike out in all sorts of directions. Ashlyn never wears jewelry while riding, no matter if it's a trail ride, practice, or racing. She wears more professional clothing while racing though.

Unlike most girls, Ashlyn doesn't care about popularity. She believes it is just a way to make others feel bad about themselves if they are in the lower levels of the popular scale. If she sees a "popular" girl/boy is picking on someone, who is supposedly less "popular", Ashlyn will jump into the conversation and say things that nobody would ever say to a "popular" kid. Usually the "popular" girl/boy is stunned and then starts talking trash about Ashlyn and the kid they were picking on. But Ashlyn would've already taken the kid away, helping them plan revenge.
A not-so-good temper.
Ashlyn has anger issues, a.k.a. a bad temper. She has a tendency to snap at her friends without meaning to. She usually starts arguments and fights when this happens, causing temporary tension and distrust among her friends. Sometimes, she even loses a friend or two because of her temper. Ashlyn doesn't have decent self-control so her temper always gets the best of her. She will get angry over little things once in a while. She also can be vicious, if she's in a bad mood.
I wouldn't wanna be anybody else.
Ashlyn always tells the world, "Take me as I am or leave me alone.". She hates it when people pretend to be what they're not. She has always been herself and laways will be. She tries to put it into others' minds that it doesn't matter what you're like, you are you, embrace your difference, it's what makes you unique. Ashlyn honestly wouldn't wanna be anyone else than her, she's different and she loves it. "Don't let others change you, be yourself. Your opinion is the only one that matters. If you think you look good, then you look good!" she would say to the people who are struggling with this problem. Ashlyn doesn't have a care in the world about what others think, they can like her or not, it doesn't really matter.
Excuse me, sir. My glass is half-empty.
Ashlyn is also the kind of person who see the glass as "half-empty", making her negative often. She usually thinks of the bad results when in tough situations, but is always sure she will make it. She always imagines what the worst things that can happen can be, and usually it shakes her confidence. She, sometimes, wants more of something, whether it be money, friends, races, she wants more. Ashlyn also likes it when people do things her way, it makes her feel superior in every way possible.
Whoa, we're in a public place. I'm not gonna dance!
Ashlyn is confident about most things; racing, practice, tests, writing, etc. But one of the many other things she is not confident about is dancing, in public. Even with her friends she won't dance in public. However, she will dance at parties and clubs where basically everyone else is dancing and they won't stare at her. Ashlyn doesn't like doing a lot of things in public; crying, dancing, singing, and more. She doesn't care what others think but she doesn't want to look like a fool.

Ashlyn's past was very uneventful until she was 12 so I'm just gonna put her important details that happened before she turned 12.
-Born July 26, 1993.
-Started riding ponies at age 4.
-Started riding horses at age 6.
-Moved to her parents' new, small racing stable at age 9.
-Exercised a horse for the very first time at age 11.
Now we move on to a very important event in her life at age 12.
May 25, 2005
Ashlyn comes home to find that her parents' small racing stable is going to be expanded. Why? A particular colt of theirs, Storming Thunder, had won an all-time record of races that year that no other colt could beat! News reporters flooded the stables afterwards, asking about their latest potiental racing superstars. The stables earned so much money that they expanded and bought some broodmares to breed to their top stallions. Requests came piling in for future breedings with Storming Thunder and the stables started to come alive! More stablehands and trainers were hired, Ashlyn being the groom and exerciser for Storming Thunder. This is when Ashlyn started to become very interested in racing.
December 13, 2006
Storming Thunder is put down because of an unfixable injury, a broken leg. Ashlyn is swarmed by reporters because she was the rider when Storming Thunder broke his leg. The story is, Ashlyn was taking Storming Thunder out for his daily winter trail ride. The usual trail had, unknowningly, been covered in a thick sheet of ice with a thin layer of snow. Storming Thunder was just breaking out into a fast trot when he slipped, his left hind leg catching onto a bramble bush. Ashlyn was nearly crushed when Storming Thunder fell on her. They both got a broken leg, but Ashlyn was the only one who survived. Ashlyn said she'd never ride a horse ever again.
March 15, 2008
Ashlyn had recently gotten dumped by her boyfriend whom she dated for almost a year. Even though she was heartbroken, her parents took her to a horse auction. They wanted to see if she still possessed her love of horses and potiental superstar predictions. Ashlyn picked out a lovely grey Thoroughbred colt that was in good shape, had a good tempermant, and an amazing pedigree, which dated back to Secretariat! They bought the horse, and, just as they were leaving, a pitiful scene opened up before them. A scrawny 6 month old Thoroughbred filly was brought out. She was a bit tall for a 6 month old filly and she was coated in hardened mud, brambles, burrs, and junk that you couldn't tell what her real coat color was. A dog meat man placed a $60 bid on her and the bidsman started counting down. Nobody said anything. Struck with sympathy, Ashlyn spoke out, "$125 for the filly!" Her parents were stunned. The Thoroughbred was loaded up with the colt and they went back to the stables. Ashlyn got straight to work on cleaning the filly's stall, getting her special food with extra nutrition, clean water, and new bedding. The filly's name was Nyx.
July 26, 2009
Ashlyn breaks her word. The day she turns 17 she gets to ride Nyx for the first time. Remember when Ashlyn bought Nyx at that horse auction? How she was all dirty and stuff? Well, the 6 months, and counting, Ashlyn spent with Nyx was very difficult. Grooming was hard because Nyx would constantly move and bite. Ashlyn gave up and started out the first 2 months just forming trust with Nyx. After 4 months of 3 baths a day, 7 grooming sessions a day, Nyx was finally a pretty clean horse. She turned out to be a beautiful red roan with white stocks and a diamond stripe on her face. Nyx kept getting taller and her ribs didn't show anymore. Ashlyn made a lot of progress with Nyx their first 6 months, training on the longe, getting use to the halter, getting used to the lead, and etc. Ashlyn and her favorite stablehand, Seth, brought out Nyx and started to break her in. When Ashlyn got in the saddle, she was terrified. Nyx got a couple laps before she got stubborn again. Seth helped Ashlyn dismount and they gave Nyx a grooming session. "Nyx could be a good racehorse. If she goes into racing, what will her public name be?" Seth asked, combing Nyx's mane. That is when Ashlyn thought of the perfect name. Her brother, Logan, used to play car games called Need for Speed. She went in later that day and officially registered Nyx as Need for Speed.
June 9, 2011
Ashlyn arrives in Missoula, Montana. She had thought it through carefully and decided to go to someplace different from the races. Ashlyn had called a week before and registered to board and ride Nyx at Bear Creek Ranch.
